Chris Crutcher on NPR for Banned Books Week?

I jumped over to Chris Crutcher's website to see if he had posted a personal response to the Limestone County situation.  I didn't see one, but I did see this:

ALABAMA...CRUTCHER IS COMING, 9/26!
Limestone County can ban his book, but speech is still free!

OOPS!  Not so fast!
Limestone County bans books AND speech!

So I got a good laugh out of that.  I'm impressed that he still can laugh about it.  If I had written the fabulousness that is Whale Talk or Athletic Shorts or Stotan! or Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes or Ironman, I think I'd be so mad that I couldn't even see straight, let alone able to talk rationally about censorship.

It's just so ironic that he's this huge defender of and advocate for teenagers everywhere, and there are so many people out there that seem to think that those same teenagers need to be protected from his books.  It makes me CRAZY.
