Odds & Ends: April 15

• There are a whole bunch of Kindle deals today, including Emily St. John Mandel's fantastic Station Eleven, Nicola Yoon's lovely The Sun is Also a Star, and E. Lockhart's We Were Liars, which I keep thinking I should give another chance. And I'm definitely going to buy Lauren Groff's Fates & Furies, Brit Bennett's The Mothers, and Ruta Sepetys' Salt to the Sea, because I've been meaning to read all three for ages, hooray!

I mentioned this here before, but I've been re-reading Octavia Butler's Parable books lately. When I first read them (not long after they came out), they seemed far-fetched, and Earthseed felt like New Age nonsense. Now? Everything rings like a (scary, ominous) bell.

I promised a list of historical romances with Indian characters that don't make my head explode. I'm kicking it off with Meredith Duran's DUKE OF SHADOWS, which is set partially during the Indian rebellion of 1857-58 (aka "the Sepoy Mutiny").
