I wrote about my childhood love—despite THE TERROR—for Scott Corbett’s The Red Room Riddle over on Substack*.

And woo boy, even as an adult, and even almost fifty years after it was first published, it is still A. LOT.

Also! I was delighted to find out (via various spots on social media) that there are OTHER PEOPLE out there who grew up with this book, who ALSO found it terrifying, and who ALSO read it over and over and over again.

ALSO ALSO! I found that there are at least two other books written and illustrated by the same team—Here Lies the Body and Captain Butcher’s Body—so I’ll be reading those very very soon!

So! Excited!
