What I'm Reading: April 14

OMG MY HEART.

The Prince and the Dressmaker—it seems like I'm the last person to read this, so this is something that you probably already know—is adorable.

It's about a dressmaker who wants to share her art with the world and a prince who wants to wear dresses sometimes.

It's about friendship and family and falling in love; about how sometimes people can love each other and still be out of sync and that's okay; it's about fear and pressure and expectations and unfairness and feeling trapped; it's about supporting and standing up for each other whether there's an audience or not; it's about loving each other for who we are, as we are, because of who we are.

Both leads have challenges and relationships outside of the central romance, and those secondary arcs are just as layered and fulfilling as the primary story.

It's funny and sad and sweet and romantic; it's thoughtful and smart and emotionally complex.

Nutshell: LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT.

BONUS: THERE ARE VALENTINE'S DAY CARDS—but why not give them out year-round, right?
