Blumenthal is the latest celebrity to launch an elaborate, high-end publication carrying a price tag far beyond the reach of the average earner.

I found this especially interesting as I recently discovered that a $175 deluxe edition of John Grisham's recent Playing for Pizza had been released.  While that's a far cry from the books discussed in the Independent article, it seems that a hand-tooled and bejeweled* James Patterson volume can't be far behind.
