Nicole at Word For Teens has created a nice visualized breakdown of her issues with the cover art on The Immortal Rules, and she's pointed out that in addition to whitewashing it, Harlequin took an actively badass heroine (Hello, katana! I shall wield you against vampires and zombies now!) and put her in a completely passive pose. With added crying.
So Nicole, being a much bigger fan of the book than I was, went ahead and created her own cover art. Which is a cool way of dealing with an uncool problem.
