Challenge updates.

• In Loudon County, Virginia, the Superintendent who ordered And Tango Makes Three off library shelves (overriding the decisions of both the principal and a formal challenge committee) has changed his mind.  I wonder what prompted that -- private smackdown, you think?

It should be noted that this is not a complete reversal.  The book is still not allowed in general circulation at the school where the complaint occurred.  So his decision to override the principal and the challenge committee still stands -- he's just not forcing the other 13 elementary schools in his district to pull the book as well.  So yay him, sort of.  He drew a line.  He's okay with one parent dictating what's on the shelf in one school library, but not one parent dictating what's on the shelf in fourteen school libraries.

Sounds like there are school board members who are looking to overturn his decision, though.  So Tango might end up back at Sugarland Elementary after all.

The Joy of Sex and The Joy of Gay Sex are being challenged for the third time (by the same guy!) in Nampa, Idaho.
