Half of primary schools close their libraries at break and lunchtimes, while one in 20 ban children from taking books out on loan.
In elementary school, I was totally obsessed with two books: A book about horror movies -- specifically, the chapter about the special effects -- and this other extremely strange cartoon-y one about all sorts of gadgets for cheating (like a homework machine -- AWESOME) and cleaning your room and avoiding horrid relatives. I wish I could remember the title. I took them out so often that they were hardly ever on the shelf.
But then this other girl took a liking to the horror movie book. That led to a minor war.
