Fool Moon: The Dresden Files #2 -- Jim Butcher

With a title like Fool Moon, it wasn't hard to guess what it would be about:

"You almost got yourself killed," she said, but her voice had softened a few shades.  I noticed that she hadn't moved her hand from the other side of Billy's chest, and he was looking up at her with an expectant expression.  She fell silent, and they stared at one another for a minute.  I saw her swallow.

Please, help me.  Young werewolves in love.

Likes:

  • Jim Butcher's take on werewolves--there are at least three different types.  Some natural, some not so natural.
  • Foreshadowing. (There's going to be a Big Bad in the series, and I think I know who it will be, but I'm not going to give anything away.)
  • The crime scenes continue to be wonderfully horrific.
  • "Gentleman" Johnny Marcone, the resident crime lord.  He's awesome.  (Not a person I would want to have any sort of relationship with, but he's a fun character.)
  • Dislikes:

  • The first couple of chapters give Harry Dresden's background all over again.  I hate it when authors do that.  Sure, it makes it possible for people to just jump into the middle of the series, but it's annoying for those of us that already have the info.

  • I'm over the Harry/Murphy misunderstandings already.  I realize that they'll probably continue for quite a while, since Murphy is the secret love interest, but still.

  • I'll be reading the next one soon.
