The Gorillas of Gill Park -- Amy Gordon

It's cute, it's quirky, it's pretty mediocre.  It felt like the author was trying too hard.

And sure, I don't think that kids should smoke, but sometimes I wish that authors could learn a little more subtlety in getting that message across.  Sure, put the dying smoker in the story, but leave the rest to the reader.  The main character constantly thinking, "I really wish he wouldn't smoke those stupid cigarettes" gets old.  Fast.
